Natural disasters seem to be happening more frequently all over the world, destroying lives, homes and businesses. Tornado season is at an all-time high and we are now moving towards hurricane season. But even though your area may have dodged the bullet these last few go-a-rounds, VoiceNation still recommends that your business is fully prepared with a disaster recovery plan.
According to Entrepreneur Magazine, Synantec’s survey results of small and medium-sized businesses worldwide reported that only 53 percent of the businesses surveyed have a solid disaster recovery plan in place, even though 76 percent are headquartered in regions susceptible to natural disasters like hurricanes, tornadoes and earthquakes. However, 86 percent of businesses without a disaster preparedness plan promise to create one within six months.
If you happen to fall into the “no plan in place” category, or feel it beneficial to review your current plan, here are a few tips as to how:
- Identify critical needs
- Turn to trusted advisers
- Automate wherever possible
- Test annually
