The time has come. This weekend embarks the beginning of the holiday travel season and that means airports will be packed. This also happens to be many business travelers’ least favorite time of the year to frequent the airport. The holiday rush comes with heavy crowds, long lines through security, overbooked flights, and weather delays this time of the year.
To ease the tension and travel more comfortably, there are a few things you can do:
Pick a Seat.
Choose your seat ahead of time and sit as closely to the front of the plane as possible. The closer you are to the front the sooner you can get off when you’ve reached your destination. As your travel date approaches, the airplane is only going to become more full. What happens when a flight gets overbooked? People are left without a seat. Choosing your seat when you purchase your ticket ensures you have a place to sit. That way, you won’t miss your out of town meeting. That might be worth the extra fee airlines are charging to book your seat in advance.
Beat the crowds at check-in and baggage claim and carry your bag on. Plus, many airlines charge an additional fee to check your bag.
The sooner you can board the plane the better. You’ll find a convenient place for your carry on and have time to get situated before the crowded plane gets hectic.
Head Phones, A Must!
The holidays bring excitement to people, especially children. Chances are, if you are traveling for business you probably have work do to. Head phones will help you concentrate and tune out the disturbance.
For those of you who must travel through the airports, do your best to be patient and understanding of others.
