Happy Father Day!
Dad’s are hands down some of the greatest people on the planet. They always know exactly what to do when you’re in a crisis, and even if they don’t, they’ll fake it til they make it just to make you feel safe and secure. Dads are our heroes here because they are always pursuing excellence. Because I love my own Dad so much, I’d like to take a moment to highlight some of the many things about him that I adore.
#1) My Dad always came home from work with a smile.
He could have had the worst day ever but you would never know it based off of his demeanor. I can remember as a little kid I would always want my Dad to take me down the street to the park to swing. He tells me now that he had no idea how he had the energy to do that every night but somehow, whenever he saw his kids, he found himself suddenly feeling refreshed again even after a long day in the office. I always feel important to my Dad because he genuinely cares about the little details of my life and is consistently looking for ways to make life more enjoyable for his family.
#2) My Dad fixes all my problems.
Whether its oil changes, car repairs, resume writing, or finding my place in the world, my Dad has never hesitated to stand up for his daughter and fight for me to have a great life. He never lets me take the easy road, but always encourages me to take the high one. He is and will always be the person I call when I am in a drought and can’t seem to get my footing in life. He always knows what to say and if he finds himself at a loss for words, he gives the best hugs. That’s basically the same thing, if not better.
#3) My Dad is a world changer.
He has never hesitated to give generously to the people and organizations he believes in. He always encourages me to pursue my dreams and motivates me to do the same for others. My Dad sees the best in people and is always willing to give everyone a chance. He brings life into every conversation and never meets a stranger. My Dad can talk to anyone about anything because he is genuinely interested in people and cares for them. He is never fake, always real and to the point and his down to earth spirit breaks through barriers of feeling unwanted or uncomfortable. He is a world changer because he loves people and inspires them to be the best version of themselves that they can be!
But my favorite thing about this amazing man in my life is that I am the one who gets to call him dad. As you celebrate Father’s Day this year, I want to encourage you to reflect on some of the key reasons why you love and admire your own dad. Or maybe as you read this, someone else comes to mind who has been your rock in a hard time. These are the people worth celebrating, today and everyday! So today, slap your dad on the back, (cause you know they always do that to you) hand them a freshly grilled burger and tell them thanks for simply being your Dad…’nuff said.
Happy Father’s Day to all of the amazing, hilarious and hard working Dad’s out there!
