If you’ve been following VoiceNation in our quest to digest and squeeze every ounce of goodness out of Charles Duhigg’s book The Power of Habit (here and here), then you’ll notice that we’ve tried our hand at getting healthier around the office. With that being said, a few key people come to mind when I face times of doubt and I wonder if I can really change my habits. Two of our fabulous call center supervisors and our I.T. network specialist have written their stories and would like to share them with more people who find the struggle to change habits just as challenging as they have. So, we’re going to take the next couple of weeks and give these wonderful individuals a chance to have a voice and share their stories. First, let us introduce you to Tre as he tells us his story of habit change.
So honestly, my story is simple. I used to be skinny, but I moved down here and got huge. This past December, my brother came down here and we made a pact that I would get it right. From day one, I was motivated. The hardest thing was eating right. When I thought about all the health risks that could occur I said I wanted to be alive and healthy for my daughter no matter what. That has been my number one motivation. The fact that I couldn’t run around with her because I would get tired fast really made me feel some type of way so I got it together. Overall I have come down 92 lbs. I started at 352 now I’m at 260. The work isn’t done, it has just started. The scale used to tell me a lot, now it’s my clothes and my body instead. The ultimate goal is to have a 6 pack and to be as healthy as I can be.
I’m not there but With God’s help and my daughter as motivation I’ll get it. -Tre
